TWO pathways diverged in Bailey Wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

Division D Director, Bailey Wood would have us take the ‘Pathways’ way.

Inspirational, evangelical even, Bailey knew his stuff and it was the stuff of The Matrix.

Like a group of Buzz Lightyears, we were, in not quite nanoseconds plugged in, switched on, logged and loaded with directions, “To Icebreaker and beyond.”

Really quite easy, though individual persistence as selected trails branch to distant horizons, will be telling.

Some likely will enter, dawdle and immerse themselves in the long grasses and buttercups of the verge, while others, striving forth will cover as many kilometres of tarmac in as short a time as possible.

I’ve been there, seen the future, tested the turf: quite spongy, easy underfoot though there are minor traps for those who don't examine the way forward before embarking. The same Evaluator for instance is supposed to evaluate both of one’s first two speeches. If overlooked, nothing that can’t be overcome by a dodge and slide into home while the umpire’s eye’s are on batter’s run to first.

Bailey’s apparent ease in navigating the site was admired and absorbed, largely through osmosis by those present. We left knowing that enough of us will be able to fill the gaps that exist across the groups’ collective circuits.

A worthwhile meeting, not only of minds, but also of those strange little pulses of sub atomic particles that zip across the ether, storm through wi-fi and upon entering computers, run up typing fingers and destroy miscreant ideas until we all understand the ways of Big Toastmaster.
